Materials & Care
All the materials we use are 100% natural, including the threads, buttons and labelling. Everything is made by hand on a very small scale. Each piece will have a unique quality about it, something that will be yours to enjoy and cherish. Caring for these slow-made pieces in the best ways through washing and mending will help them last for years to come.
Most of us are in the habit of washing our clothes and fabrics too often. Where possible we recommend patch cleaning if there is a small stain rather than putting the whole garment in the washing machine. We do not recommend chemical dry cleaning for any of our products.
Silk, Linen & Cotton
All our items are designed to be washed, either with a cool hand wash or machine wash at no higher than 30 degrees with low spin or delicate wash. Washing at lower temperatures will make your clothes last longer and is also kinder to the planet by using less energy and CO2.
Wool
Wool can be cleaned very effectively by leaving out in the fresh air for a few hours. Just hang out dry on your clothes line, or drape over a chair back. We think our woollens become more beautiful the more we wear and use them.
Pilling is a natural occurrence and will get less with wear. Gently brush with a pilling comb to remove.
When needed, wash your woollens in a cool hand wash with a gentle detergent. Do not aggravate the wool too much as this causes it to damage and causes the fibres to felt. Push the water through the fibres with gentle squeezes of the garment. Gently squeeze (but never wring) out most of the moisture. Carefully roll up the garment in a large towel to squeeze out more water and dry flat in the shade, lying fabric in its natural shape.
Antique
Some of the fabrics we source for our designs are vintage and antique. We have ensured they are strong and good enough quality to wear and care for as any of our other fabrics. These pieces are particularly special as they are one off, unique pieces with a pre existing story. We hope you fall in love with them as we have!
